Moose Haas won Game 4 of the ALCS in 1982. Then, in 1983, he led the AL in winning percentage at .813 with a 13-3 record in 179 innings pitched. Yet, Haas's career always seemed like there was some unfulfilled promise there.
The Brewers pitched him a lot early in his young career. On my 1982 Topps blog, I've talked about how Billy Martin ground through the 1980 Oakland pitching staff by having them complete a ton of games. The same can be said for how George Bamberger treated the 24-year-old Haas -- 14 complete games and 252-1/3 innings in what ended up as Haas's best season in the major leagues. He had recurring shoulder problems thereafter (and before that some too). The Brewers always seemed to be on the verge of trading him somewhere, and that happened in 1986.
Haas is in the top 5 in career wins, games started, complete games, innings pitched, shutouts, and seasons as a Brewers among all the pitchers who have spent time in Milwaukee. That's why he's a PC for me.
I've got 59 items of Haas's as a Brewer, counting autographed items as separate from the unautographed ones if I have both.
