Benji always looked like a stiff wind would blow him over. He was another Harry Dalton pickup -- a guy received in trade for Jim Slaton from the Tigers who surprised a lot of people when he exploded for 41 homeruns in 1980 to tie for the lead in the American League with Reggie Jackson -- just as Gorman Thomas did two seasons later. He ended up finishing his career in Japan at the age of 39 after hitting 46 Homers and .306/.375/.539 in 224 games for Osaka Kintetsu Buffaloes over the 1987 and 1988 seasons combined.
For me, he was an easy inclusion in the PC pantheon for his hitting -- 7th overall in career homers with Milwaukee with 176, 6th in RBI with 685, and he is currently 8th in games played, 8 games ahead of Rickie Weeks (who probably won't catch him) and 76 ahead of Ryan Braun -- who probably will.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel named him as one of its outfielders for its all-decades team for the 1980s.
